yes,
but funnier

Make fun of Melcher all you want, but don't dismiss the man (not that either of you are) until you've heard his self-titled album from 1974, recently reissued. I think it's one of the sweetest, saddest records I've ever heard, especially his version of "Stagger Lee," and it sounds, well, amazing. Fans of John Phillips' Wolf-king of L.A. are encouraged to buy it immediately.

Avoid his country rock follow up, Royal Flush, at all costs, though, now matter how big a Texas Hold 'Em fan you are--it's a total turd.

I love that Byrdmaniax was known in the industry as "Melcher's folly."

I would definitely go see a band called Melcher's Folly.

I think that Steve Albini would make a great Stooges album especialy if they keep their recording technique as it was in the day doing takes till the song is right live.

As well after hearing that Iggy told the new bass player - Mike Watt, "You slappa the bass I slappa your face". Bet it would make for interesting studio stories.

Think Rick Rubin has done some nice sounding records but don't think I would like his production style on a Stooges album compared to a Steve Albini Electrical recording which would be more in keeping with The Stooges and Funhouse records which were the best. Search and Destroy is a great record but not in the same ballpark as the other two.

Raw Power?

Oh GOD there's another formerly great band of OLD BASTARDS, allegedly now considering recording new material, who I bet could REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY benefit from Steve's input if they were not such total fucking arrogant ho-bags ... dream the fuck on, right. Hint: their guitarist produced a crappy album by a band for whom Steve produced a really good album. First correct answer wins a hickey.
