did anyone hear of this project by film-maker christopher green and fugazi's brendan canty called 'burn to shine'? the idea was that they would go from town to town filming local bands play one song each in a house that would then be demolished? the first dvd was amazing with performances from q and not u, the evens and ted leo amongst others.
it says on the website that there is now a second release set in chicago featuring shellac, wilco and tortoise. has anyone heard any details of this at all?
the cover features someone we all might recognise....

4perhaps i was a little vague.
i notice that this hasn't been mentioned on this forum despite the fact that it was recorded in chicago, was curated by bob weston and has a rare performance by shellac.
knowing that chicago based musicians and engineers congregate here, i was wondering if anyone either participated or has seen it and can tell me if it is good.
i am fully aware of google. i use and endorse many of their products.

5i picked this up a few months ago. DEFINITELY worth buying, especially since it usually goes for around ten dollars. very good (if not great) performances by all the bands. cool stuff from bands i otherwise wouldn't have heard of (e.g. the Lonesome Organist). interesting setting. well-recorded. nice intro and outro, c/o Canty and friends. aaand you get a hi-fi version of "Steady as She Goes."
i solemnly swear i am not being paid to say this.
(P.S.: i did allude to it--albeit vaguely--in the "studio questions" forum [i think] about a month or so ago.)

You are so wrong.
There's been at least one or two threads about this. That's what the "search function" thing was about. This website has a "search" function that you can use to search this forum. Not a "search engine" like google or something.
Using this forum's search function I found this thread from about a year ago.
Though even if you only used google, it would still have returned almost 60 results for you, at least some of which are the thread(s) in question. See?

9i did put it through the search before posting and saw nothing relating to it immediately. obviously i only went through the title of each post because i have no intention of back-reading every post on this forum for some very cursory reference.
the point is i was amazed by the discovery of this today and since i frequent a chicago based forum i thought it wouldn't be gratuitously off-topic to make a post about it. the heading of this forum says 'general discussion' and subsequently i think this is appropriate.
thanks for the comments that actually refer to my earlier questions.
