I just got a studio projects B3 and I was wondering when the correct time to flip the swith to change the pattern would be.

I take it that quick peak is not a good thing.

take the track out of 'record-ready' first.

I unarm the track and it still peaks.

I also turn the pre all the way down and it still peaks.

I think the mic pickup pattern (cardioid, omni, fig 8, etc).

I think.

My answer would be "When the mic isnt plugged in."
