Staples of students and the insane. These damn things:

I realise that in a properly ordered life they have no place in the diet of homo sapiens and are generally about as nutritious as a bowl of liquefied sodium, so why am I sat here typing one-handed as I struggle with a bowl of (brand indecipherable) ersatz 'kim chi' flavour Korean* noodles?

I had to run an errand and ended up being magnetically pulled into Sing Fat Chinese supermarket where I was powerless to resist seduction by the lurid colours, hallucinogenic packaging and mystery ingredients. I have 'Spicy Seafood Ramen' (those prawns on the packet, I shall look forward to those!) in my desk in case my blood electrolyte levels aren't quite through the roof later this afternoon.

This noxious sludge cannot be good for me, they are Crap but they are also horribly compelling.

*These I would have to say are top-flight - THREE packets to add: strange dried wisps, some powdered chemicals and one that looked to be entirely orange coloured fat.

you guys in the UK are lucky. I miss those noodles. We mostly have plain, unfancy Ramen.....but if you search and go to the handful of Asian markets we have here, you can find something better.

When I was living in Britain I loved those noodles and all of their weird variants. I never knew what was in any of them and sometimes they would have 3 or 4 packets of stuff that you had to mix in.

What about hilariously named Farmfoods? Does anybody here in the UK shop there? I thought it was the most bizarre store I had ever seen with some of the oddest/most disgusting food ever. Eggs, baked beans and chips in a can? That is what's left of you empire......
Give me a place to live in NYC and I will play in your band

Yay! I have a Myspace page!

Fucking right. A meal for thirty pence? There were weeks with about two quid to my name, but you know you're going to be alright because some wise old Chinese man with a long beard decided that these things should be in corner shops all across the known universe. There'll be plenty of other time for eating nutritious, good food. Get your noodles.

One of my favourite things when I get in and am way too tired to do any proper cooking is to do some of these, drain the 'soup' away a bit, stir in a can of tuna and a fuckload of soy sauce... COME ON!!!

Not Crap.

Connor, I concur. Yummy big cracker snack... I often ate them dry in collage.... I was too impatient to wait for soup.

Did your collages look like this, or were they more abstract?

This one is indeed a waffler though. The dry ramen with sprinkled flavor pack is sometimes better than a bag of chips, but it'll leave you thirsty as hell.

Cooked, it is nostalgicly delicious.

But look forward to a few hours on the john every (third) morning.

Also, goodbye immune system.

Crap, but I wonder if Kraft Mac & Cheese is any better...

aw, why not. Not CRAP! for all the times it's been gooder than 'meh'
