Does anybody have any experience with this? I'm about to build a detuned cabinet from the specs in the book "London Power DIY Speaker Cabinets for Musical Instrument Applications" and I want a trebly tone. Does the porting add a lot of bass? Thanks.

Yes. I don't know the exact change, but it generally allows the bass to be more clear with the speaker farting out less, and therefor better with detuned strings.

I'd suggest just building a 2-12 or 2-10, or even better, a 2-12/2-10 cab!

Cheers!

It extends the bass response by lowering the resonance frequency of the whole system.

It can be good, it can be bad. Just depends.

Try unported and then you can add a port later if you like.
