"I've been going through the third season of Mr. Show-I think this is a little overrated, there are some funny sketches but overall it's a little lame"
So I started the thread for him.
I saw it once and thought it was hilarious. I rented the first season and laughed a few times. What happened?

I'll still say NOT CRAP, though.

Not Crap. I have a deep love for mr. show. Even if they have a few sketches that maybe aren't hysterical, they're still smart and well written. Bob and David are both naturally funny. 3rd season actually has their best sketches, even if a couple episodes don't flow as well as the others.

On the few occasions that I have stumbled upon an episode of "Mr. Show", I've found it to be obvious, precious, self-indulgent (in the bad way), mean-spirited and, most importantly, unfunny.

I'm swimming against the tide here, but this isn't a recently formed opinion. I've hated this show and these bozos for years.

CRAP.

On the other hand, I could watch "Insomniac" or "Trigger Happy TV" all day long.

I'll never forget the first time I saw the show (years ago) but someone more familiar than me might recall a sketch where Bob Odenkirk is at a donut shop and he's taking an extraordinarily long time ordering donuts, and it drags for awhile until you notice that he has blood running out of his ear - suddenly a whole new level clicks into place.

That's what I liked most about that show. It certainly was Python-derivative, but with more edge and less outright one-liners. Laugh think laugh think.

I still believe that Bob and David are two of the smartest and funniest writers and performers out there, even if David pulls a little stronger towards shock rant content these days.

Has anyone seen Run Ronnie Run or Melvin Goes to Dinner? I've been looking at them at the rental shop but have not had a first hand review to aid me in completing the rent.
