hello darling,
I've been searching for the kingdom of wonder that is the perfect psychedelic song or even the perfect psychedelic album.
Can anyone here lend me a hand at finding QUALITY psychedelic artists ?
I'm in dire need of something pre-alt-rock that will satisfy my thirst somewhat in this area of sound.
I like what I hear in some OOIOO tracks and some Amon Duul tracks to give you an idea of what I think is approaching my aural goal.
Darker psychedelic music, aggressive psychedelic music, something that isn't overly silly to experience.
any suggestions ?
I THANK YOU.

thanks for the recommendation, but I think they are more similar to the Move, or Make Up. Blue Cheer seems more blues-rock oriented and I'm looking for something with more expansive sonics and arrangements.

thanks for mentioning that. Yes I have heard it and I'm into it, but for the sake of this thread I have to be picky about what I'm asking for. I guess I'm looking for something that goes further than the Pet Sounds / Sgt. Pepper sound if we're going to deal in songs that feature lyrics.
Ideally I'm looking for something with no lyrics that can pull off a grand aggressive, psychedelic sound.

Here are some suggestions although i'm not certain what exactly i'm aiming for. Sometimes i think my personal take on what is psychedelic can differ from others, but i guess i'm not alone there. I'm sure you already know the majority of these but it never hurts to suggest does it?
'Split' by The Groundhogs
'Loveless' by My Bloody Valentine
'Song Cycle' by Van Dyke Parks
'Os Mutantes' by Os Mutantes
'Polnareff's' by Michel Polnareff
'Farewell Aldebaran' by Jerry Yester and Judy Henske
Anything by The 13th Floor Elevators (first 2 albums in particular)
Anything by Neu!
Moments on the 3 Cornelius albums '69/96', 'Fantasma' and 'Point' are very nice.
Obviously there's some Boredoms releases (my favourite band). I imagine you are familiar with Super Are and Vision Creation Newsun, but VCN has an accompanying EP and an extra live disc too, plus the Re:Bore volume 0 (eye's own reworking of VCN). Also, their latest 'Sea Drum/House of Sun' is killer. SUPER ROOTS 3, 7 and 8 also worth a look.
If you were after something heavy and crushing then you can't go wrong with:
'Dopesmoker' by Sleep
'Dopethrone' by Electric Wizard
'Feedbacker' by Boris
But the sure fire gem of gems for a whacked out psychedelic album experience:
'A Wizard/A True Star' by Todd Rundgren
I'm sure there are tonnes more but that's all i can think of right now. When in doubt, just lash on side A of "Wizard..." (that's tracks 1 through 12 for cd listeners).
Works every time, and never gets tired.

Oh i forgot to say, my personal favourite 'song' that i would call psychedelic is the 12", ten minute version of GLIDER by My Bloody Valentine. It's not the easiest thing to track down but it is most definitely worth it. I'm not sure if it's available on cd in it's unedited form but if it is, someone tell where i can get it.
No drums, no bass, no vocals, but relentless and beautiful throughout.
