At our shop is this handheld ribbon mic, the Beyerdynamic M500N(C). It looks like a SM 58 on steroids.
Sounds really cool, albeit crazy bright. Hypercardioid. Has a frequency response chart apparently generated for this specific mic.
Anyone else ever use this guy? I'm looking to use it in a recording project soon...

I'm gonna take a wild stab and guess that the C stands for Cardioid. It definitely has a fairly narrow cardioid pickup pattern...

"C" stands for "Cannon" - as in XLR.
The mic is hypercardioid.

It belongs to the shop. If I can talk my boss into letting go of it, I am going to pick it up myself. However, if you live in the Seattle region, we can rent it to you (it is in our super secret 'rent to those who know how to take care of it' stock). Or, if you bring a couple of cool CD-R's, you can borrow it.
