Where have all the good bands gone?

Now this just might be the lamest rant on here, but jesus christ. I have been looking for a band to join but every band that puts out that they are looking for a bassist has the worst influences ever.

Examples:
Korn
Sevendust
Limp Bizkit
Linkin Park
Yellowcard
Pearl Jam

Yes, that's it, I bought the bass and amp with my blood, sweat, and tears so I could sound like Linkin Park. All I have to say is that if this is what music is coming to then let me just slit my wrists now.

And now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

If you cried in order to buy your bass and amp maybe you should sound like Linkin Park!

Sissy.

Maybe you'll do better if you get out there and meet people in your local music scene, rather than relying on ads. Responding to or counting on replies to ads is a surefire way to fuck your musicmaking experience.

Go out and meet people at shows and record stores and other shows and more shows. Or hang out in the hallway at a practice space, and walk around and listen to who's rockin it proper, and then figure out how to talk to them. Or slip a note under their door that says "I like you. Circle one..." etc.

Ads suck ass. Move on.

By the by, a little off topic but since I've had my bass since I was 14 (i'm 19 now) I there probably were tears involved (You try cleaning gutters every fall from 12-14, among other things)

I'd have used a hosepipe or something, myself. But I bet it's got that authentic dirty look, right?

Agreed.

You would rather sound like Blood, Sweat and Tears? That's pretty lame too.

Or you could get off your ass and start your own band with like minded people instead of just sitting around and bitching about how you can't waltz into a band who's doing something you enjoy, but maybe that's just too much effort, I don't know.
