Obscure or hard to find stuff

Looking for recordings by these bands, need help.

Third World War: Only two albums, are they only available on import and where can I acquire them?

Whitehouse: The same, can't find these anywhere

The Coachman: Thurston Moore's early band, do copies of anything exist?!!!
Volcano Suns: Any chance of reissues, used copies on Ebay and Amazon are too damn expensive

Dead Meadow: The first two albums are out print since the label went defunct, any chance of Matador reissuing them? Used copies aren't cheap unless someone is willing to trade.

Also, I'm sure this has been asked a million times but will Touch and Go reissue the Big Black live performances?

i got "howls from the hills" for about $14 on ebay. i got "got live if you want it" for maybe $11 on ebay, as well. the s/t album just sold for something like $70. i've never seen either for sale in a retail outlet, so i'd say your best chance is either ebay or gemm.com

Morning R.Birdman,

Ebay and Gemm are by far the best avenues for sourcing most of this. Both Track vinyl editions of the TWW albums appear on ebay.co.uk roughly once a month - there's a copy of TWW Two there at the moment as well as a double compilation CD. They were also released as single CD albums although in a slightly bowdlerised form. They should be pretty easy to find as imports.

For Whitehouse though, you'd do better going direct to Susan Lawley.

The Coachmen EP was rereleased a while back under the title "Failure to Thrive". It is really only worth the effort of obtaining if you want to hear the kind of derivative (late period) Velvet Underground / Modern Lovers type shit that was big in New York before punk broke out.

Thurston doesn't make much of an impact on this record. The guitar playing is pretty jangly and tame. There are no alternate tunings, no flattened cowbells stuck undert the strings at the 12th fret, no crazy shit period.

Still, it's an all right find for a few bucks. Keep in mind that the band never actually released it- you won't find any wax straight from 1976. "Failure to Thrive" was first released in 1990 something by one of the other guys in the band due to demand from the hordes of Sonic Youth fans that accumulated in the meantime. The liner notes are godd, btw.

Whoa! Awesome. I have the s/t album on clear vinyl. I need money. Perhaps I will look into selling that. I'd trade except...I REALLY need money because I am unemployed at the moment.

If you'd like, I can ask my friend Shelby about the reissue status of those two albums for you, Radio_Birdman. He may also know of some secret place where you can pick up a copy of either album.
