their new album was just released in japan, next month in the uk, september in the usa. steve recorded it. i think it's a pretty big leap for them. their first few albums they sounded like a mogwai rip-off band, but they seem to be developing their own style and forging and interesting path. if anyone want to hear the new record, i've got a copy you can PM me.

furthermore, if anyone at eletrical reads this. the sessions were in january, only a few months ago. what was it like, from both a technical and linguistic standpoint? from what i recall they don't speak much english, or at least not very well.

I am listening to this Mono record "Walking Cloud and Deep Red Sky, Flag Fluttered and the Sun Shined" right now.

It is NOT CRAP.

Not Crap.

If Mogwai and Explosions in the Sky had a baby it would be a vey sexy baby called Mono.

I'm basing that just on the song I'm listening to now. It's the 2nd song on One More Step and You Die, I cant be arsed to go look at the name of it. But its kicking my ass.

i've got it if you want to hear it christopher, PM me for my soulseek name, or i can send it a variety of ways.

i think it's really, really good. as i said in the "new music recommendations" thread, they're writing songs in different keys now! it's not all E/B or E/C# like it was on the first two albums... it's definitely a progression from "walking cloud," along that continued vein of more cinematic or orchestral sounding compositions.

i ALSO have this split they recorded with the band World's End Girlfriend, which is one track that's 74 minutes long. that thing is incredible. i can send that over as well.

from what i hear though, there were some problems that arose during the recording session this time, and the band didn't like the way the record came out. not sure what the future is of them recording w/ steve at electrical...

I'm curious about these "problems" of which you heard, because I don't remember any.

far be it from me to assume anything, i just heard there might have been a communication breakdown or general "problems" during the recording process. i'd be lying if the addition of that sentence-and-a-half wasn't my own selfish way of wondering whether there was any validity to those rumors. there was no malice intended, nor do i desire to proliferate any gossip.
