hi there!
I have my first job interview related to the audio field next thursday, for a big live sound company. The vacancy is just for general crew job, but I'm very nervous because I know how difficult getting a job of any kind is, and I don't want to blow it. Anyone has any advice about what to/not to say/do? Besides, I'm from Spain and this is going to be my second job interview in england, and with a serious company. Are these people tough? Do they give bad time to novices?
any help will be welcome!!

If things aren't going well (or really, even if they are) in the interview and they ask you what your worst quality is tell them that it is being interviewed. You'll all have a good chuckle. But then be prepared to say something like "...but seriously, I glue babies heads to chimp bodies and they don't look very real."

God, I fucking detest that question.
I once answered, "Answering the "What's your worst quality?" interview question".
It got a laugh, put the interviewer at ease, and I ended up getting the job.

Pour water on your crotch before hand so it looks like you went wee in your pants. Going to the interview in black face is also recommended.

Anything you say to try to sell yourself to the interviewer with be prepared back back up with examples. Don't ramble. Even if they are being really quiet. Sometimes they'll try to get you to say absent minded things that you can't immediately back up. Don't use the phrase "I'm a people person" (not that you would).. instead give examples that allow them to reach that conclusion themselves. That goes for all empty statements. ("I'm really honest", "I'm a hard worker", etc)

Being a perfectionist.
I had an interview for a large broadcast company the other week and managed to succeed.
Be confident, and try to sound like you know what you are talking about. Do not keep yourself to yourself; tell them what you know!
Demonstrate to them how you are aware about how things need to be organised, how things need to be planned and how you recognise how to treat you clients. Look into how live sound companies work. Go to their websites and learn about all of the components that are involved and all of the important aspects which need to be considered.
Good Luck,
Roddy

I think the "what is your greatest weakness" question can actually be a sign that things are going well, because they feel the need to ask. If they don't ask, then maybe they have already spotted some of your weaknesses. So I think you can turn it around to be a boost instead rather than something to be dreaded.

don't wear black or too many dark colors to the interview. do understand though, this doesn't mean you have to wear those awful, awful sky blue shirts most white colar dudes wear with pride.
it's okay to be creative with your self-presentation. (i've worn very stylish attire to job interviews and been hired on the spot.)
