i guess he didn't like Tarkovsky's interpretation of Solaris very much but eventually came to peace with it. if i recall correctly, there's a nice little film featuring Lem on the criterion Solaris DVD.

yeah, that's sad as he has was one of the sharpest minds of our timesin my opinion, his articles and interview about future of science or mand kind in genereal were always a great read. as for books, i'm not sure if uh "robot's fairtales" (edit: the title after translation: "mortal engines" WTF) were transleted into english, i higly recomend it. star diares are very good, too.

Totally enjoyed the books of his that i read. Didn't know he was still alive.

Tell us about his work, why was he so good? I've never read him, and you creeps are not compelling me to do so.
