Stanislaw Lem dies
3i haven't read his stuff yet, but i'd certainly like to.
any recommendations for beginners?
i guess he didn't like Tarkovsky's interpretation of Solaris very much but eventually came to peace with it. if i recall correctly, there's a nice little film featuring Lem on the criterion Solaris DVD.

4yeah, that's sad as he has was one of the sharpest minds of our timesin my opinion, his articles and interview about future of science or mand kind in genereal were always a great read. as for books, i'm not sure if uh "robot's fairtales" (edit: the title after translation: "mortal engines" WTF) were transleted into english, i higly recomend it. star diares are very good, too.
