well i haven't ever heard of this band. until you put this up, and a couple of my uber-hipster friends were discussing it on another board. based on the rave reviews they're giving it, i assume it's pretty great stuff. can i vote "not crap" based on rave reviews from people who generally are ahead of the curve, and right-on? or do i have to actually hear the music myself?

Who cares? FF sounds like another "Band of the Month"... Where's Menswe@r when you need them?
However, when the Archduke Franz Ferdinand visits Chicago to play the Empty Bottle, maybe you should go to the show. That's because a fine band called The Race will open the show. I like this band's music, and I like them as people, although I haven't seen them in awhile.
The Race releases its records through the Flameshovel label in Chicago (

The case wants that i have seen them in live concert 4/5 hours ago, in Milan. They are not only the pupils of new musical express, band of the month and other pleasantry, they totally deserves to pay the attention to them, because they have talent. The concert has been much beautiful, amusing.
Yes, you can go to the concert in chicago and decide if you like them or not.
bye

This band sounds like a heavier Strokes or something, it's total crap. I imagine NME even called them the next Nirvana?

well now my opinion is only slightly more informed. saw the video for "take me out".
started off like if you took eleventh dream day and sonic youth and turned them into the strokes. i was like, "alright, this is maybe interesting. where is this going?". then it goes into the rest of the song which is like if you took modest mouse and 12 rods and retro'ed them into an 80's band. and i was like "um, alright". i was tapping my hand in time with the rythmn and all. and struggling to recall which 80's singer this guy so thoroughly reminded me of. other than the timbe of the singer's voice, everything after the intro to this song could easily be a modest mouse song.
the visual component of the video was pretty cool, though very reminiscent of the old pumpkins "tonight, tonight" and then the current modest mouse "float on".
long story short, very much not amazing. very flavor of the month. a shining oasis, a beacon of greatness, in a sea of shit pop music.
maybe the album is better than the breakthrough pop smash hit?
maybe crap.
i'll take this "Faithless" band over franz though. it's maybe kinda interesting.
yeah, all this pop stuff, i dunno...

If this is what we're willing to settle for, than we deserve it.
TOTAL OVER-RATED CRAP
Interesting moments do not a good band make.

to borrow a formula from david spade: "i liked 'em better the first time around when they were called gang of four!"
crap.
yeah, at least that faithless tune, has chicks in the video. and it's a groovier song. i'm sick of disco basslines. you can take your 2/4 drums and shove 'em up your ass.
i've been reading great reviews of this band by people who never even mention gang of four. what the fuck??? they all say some shit about the cure, or the clash, or the strokes.

oh yeah, on the gang of four thing: i've only seen a few pics of andy gill live, but he was playing some weird guitar made by burns. i think it's the same model as the guy in the FF video. if it was a les paul, or even that telecaster deluxe (which i've only seen one original, but since the re-issue, i've already spotted them in two vid's, the other being in the maroon 5 vid,) i could overlook it. but no, it's that weird ass burns guitar, that i've never seen anywhere but in andy gill's hands. a little too much for me to think the sonic similarities thing a coincidence.

their singer's voice reminds so much Human League it hurts.
these guys are going to end like all the britpop minor bands.
anyone remember Echobelly,Elastica,Menswear,These Animal Men,SMASH
and all that crap the NME talked about in the mid 90's? where are they now? i bet no one is going to miss Franz Ferdinand in two years time.
by the way, i think you should NEVER trust uber-hispter,trendy people when discussing new bands...
