yeah...I just saw him at Empty Bottle. He started the show off by saying "we are the incredibally surrieal Don Caballero". I don't know if it was a joke or not but he does come off as an asshole. The set was ridiclous tho...

I've heard a lot of people testify that he's totally bonkers. The show I saw them at in Brooklyn was incredible though.

If I could play like that guy, I'd be a cocky son of a bitch too. Hell, I don't have any useful skills and I'm already an asshole. He's like Jordan or Byrd, he's got the best game and a lot of trash talk to go with it.

I was at the empty bottle show and I was somewhat dissapointed. I never had a chance to see the original lineup and these guys weren't too bad. They played their new material (or at least what I thought was new material) with a lot of energy, but I thought the writing wasn't very cohesive or interesting. The old stuff was just dissappointing for me and I kept thinking that they would be a better band if they just changed their name and focused on doing their own thing.

Damon is an incredible drummer though and I'm glad I finally got to see him play. I don't think I'd want to hang out with him though.....

We've got a show with those guys on the 19th of this month here in Houston. I hope it turns out alright. I saw Damon come through with Bellini when they were touring. It was right before they broke up too. I'm hoping for the best for this Houston show though. I've heard alot of crazy shit about him myself.

It seems that Don Cab is getting a pretty nice guarantee from the club. Damon also seems really picky about who opens for them. Oh well... fuck it.

Bellini didn't break up, just got a new drummer, Alexis Fliesig from GVSB, and finished the tour. Bellini is actually recording with Steve next month: http://www.snowingsun.com/

I saw fake Don Cab in Boston (Cambridge) late last year. I was sort of nervous about going but I was too young to see Don Cab when they were actually around so I figured on giving it a shot.

So I get there and get a spot in the center of the room, about two rows back from the stage; perfect to watch Che do his thing right? Well not exactly, since they put their huge fucking bass player right in front of me. So now I can't see anything except the left crash cymbal, I hear them utterly botch "Fire Back About Your New Baby's Sex" (failing to do with two guitars what old Don Cab did with one), I get pissed and I leave. The opening set by the Constantines saved a lame night.

Maybe they've gotten better, I dunno. But fuck anyone who sells their used drumsticks.

anyway, i just saw ian williams' new band Battles last night, and they kicked the living shit out of fake don cab, seriously. if anybody reads this and lives near texas, be sure to see them at SXSW. it was incredible.

p.s. the constantines were the shit too. and i could have sworn by listening to the recordings (especially the drums) that they were done at EA, but i have no information to confirm or deny this.
