since every single tv show is now set in a hospital, it is perfectly possible to watch them constantly for twenty-four hours every day with the aid of satellite (cable) television.
the other day i worked it out perfectly - it started with 'casualty', 'house', then 'grey's anatomy', moving onto two hours of 'er' followed by 'green wing' with an all-night 'scrubs' marathon.
i put it to you that hospitals are CRAP as a setting for a tv show.

2I don't think overuse is grounds alone for crap. After all, there have been some damn good shows set in hospitals.
St. Elsewhere
ER (the first few seasons were damn good)
Scrubs (one of the most underrated shows on TV)
M*A*S*H (okay, that's a slight stretch, but not much)
House (a one-note premise, but Hugh Laurie simply rules)

How is it being a spoof mutually exclusive with it being a good show? And do you mean it's spoofing something British and specific? Or just the American hospital genre in general? That much isn't exactly a mystery.

7i've just realised that i've shot myself in the foot because one of my favourite shows ever was set in a hospital - 'garth marenghi's dark place'.
alas it only ran for one short series.

I've heard of that show! Somewhere in the bong resin-crusted recesses of my geek mind, I remember reading about it. It's sort of a meta-show, right? The main character used to be on a TV show or something?

10Lars Von Trier's miniseries of a few yrs back, "The Kingdom," was incredible.
I did not see the American ripoff version that I think Stephen King had something to do with.
Anyway,
"The Kingdom": N/C
All other hospital shows: CRAP
