I heard this band on John Peel about seven or eight years ago and have never heard them since. The song was really repetitive and called something like 'I Like to Party'. It was so good that I made a point of remembering their name, but have never come across any of their records.

Not Crap, from my minimal exposure to them.

Anyone got any recommendations, please?

Is that the one that goes:

There's a puh-puh-puh-puh-party goin on
And there's some guh-guh-guh-guh-girls we wanna meet
And we're fuh-fuh-fuh-fuh-falling in love
With all the guh-guh-guh-guh-girls at the puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-party!

That one? That song is pretty funny.

I recommend the album "What Makes It Go".

I've come to the conclusion recently that doude from Komeda is very near the top of the heap for my favorite bass players. Great dancey groovy kinda stuff, and such nice tone!

Supposedly they started off as a band playing live to silent films or something like that. Hell, I dunno. But pick up the album "What Makes It Go". Great stuff! So out of character for the kinda music I'd normally get into, but frick, so great!

Yeah, that must be the one. All I can remember is the repetition of p-p-p-p-p-p-party. It made me laugh.

I'll try and track down "What Makes It Go".

Cheers.

yeh yeh...What Makes it Go? is pretty fantastic save for one song. Pop Sva Svenska is different, but a lot more lush with many many vocal trackings and fairly good songs. the Genius of... is pretty crappy and Kokomemedada should be avoided completely. it is terrible.

Two out of four?

eh.....not Crap good waffles. If I can just pretend What Makes it Go? is the only record they've released, Not Crap, no waffle.
kerble is right.

Is that the one with Bonjour Tristese (sp) on it? That one wigs me out cause I can't understand a damn word on any of those songs.

I must admit to not having heard the two albums Kerble says are not good. That's a bummer if that's the case.

I actually think one of the songs on What Makes It Go sounds a little like DA, Faiz, and every time I hear it I think of you. And then I do bad things. Such bad, bad things!

yuh. we were supposed to play with them a long while back, but they ended up not coming to the states. Pop Pa Svenska (title corrected) is the one with bonjour Trieste on it. I think the whole record is in swedish.

I'm not sure on the quality of the Genius Of..., as I haven't heard it in a while, but I'm sure that Kokomemedada is bullshit. I stopped it after four songs and gave up. too 'kooky'. like several versions of that "Power to the People' song on What Makes it Go? that I don't like.

also, I concur that the bass player is great and that scott has impure thoughts about me.
kerble is right.

not crap.

i love komeda. well. at least what i've heard. which is the stuff like "its all right baby" and whatever other stuff was on said album.

i'm actually dissapointed to say that many years ago, i went with my sister to see the ben folds five play at the vic. parking was awful and we ended up missing the opening band's set.

i later found out that the opening band was komeda.

frowny face.

is the singer hot? i'd imagine she's sexy in a cold, european way.
