I blew my EVM15L tonight at practice. Didn't take too well to me doing a high volume drop D tuning from my bass.
Anyone recommend a repair shop I can ship it to for reconing/rebuilding? I really like this speaker. Is it worth buying a new old stock one?
Any other speakers out there in the 15" range compare??
Thanks.

Call Heart of Texas Music in Austin and ask for Steve. They made/make Dietz cabinets.
512.444.9750.
They usually have NOS or re-coned speakers sitting around. Depending on how bad the the tear is, it's completely worth repairing, but I'm sure you could have than done locally.
Personally, I have heard nothing better in a 15" speaker than an EVM15L.

Not for regular rock music.
Find a place that uses the EV factory kits. It should cost you 100-125 bucks to recone it. A good recone will be like new.

A friend of mine blew his 15L as well. He bought the recone kit at a local music shop and they reconed it for him. He says that he doesn't hear a difference.
A bit off topic, but I was wondering how an EVM 15L compares to an EVM 15B?

Sorta on-topic... one of my EVM-15L's started making crummy noise. Turns out the cone has come unglued at the exterior perimeter along a stretch of about 3" or so, where it's glued to the flexible ring that attaches to the basket... what kinda glue is alright there? I was thinking even just crazy glue, but am obviously not looking to fuck it up any more than it already is, which is very little.

good bass, excellent mid

Fender used them in the 70s for their luxus editions

I would think a flexible glue like shoe goo would be the way to go.

There are a bunch of re-coned 15L's on ebay right now. I'm not sure about the shipping.
