"...despite having no major label backing and only two self-recorded EP's to their name." GASP, how did they ever manage to sneak in a recording session without a major label at bat for them!?

What the fuck?!?

I mean, its not too surprising how wrong that article is. We are talking about Spokane here.

I want to hear about how .22 seduced their way into Steve's studio. Fine wine? D'angelo?

let me get this straight, EA is a studio whereby in order to make money to keep up and running and in order to justify having interns and employees you record bands...any band that has some songs and some money to pay for the recording right?

SEDUCTION?

crock of shit wrote:It's somewhat comforting to know that legendarily contrarian lo-fi producer Steve Albini could be seduced by something as simple as some sultry flirtation with a pretty girl. That's exactly what got Los Angeles band Slow Signal Fade a foot in the door of Albini's legendary Chicago studio, despite having no major label backing and only two self-released EPs to their name. The result of the Albini collaboration, an album entitled Steady, clearly showcases the tape-enthusiast's production wizardry and the band's dreamy, ethereal shoe-gazing compositions.

finally we know the criteria for recording at electrical.
how come steve gets to be 'seduced' into performing the functions which make up his livlehood? how lucky to be 'seduced' into earning a living he is. i mean, steve records a band every day that god sends but he still has to be 'seduced' into it? that's some right on journalism.

i've sent a polite email to the editor, i'll post if i get a worthwhile response.

production wizardry

This brings connotations of 3D effects to my mind. Or Autotune. Haha.

Or pointy hats, paisley wall drapes, fractal guitar finishes, and the Space Echo'd sounds of bubbles churbling through the bong...
