Go here and download the Nickelback mp3.
it is their 1st and 2nd singles, put together - "How you Remind Me" in the right channel, "Someday" in the left.
The word "formula" springs to mind more than once.

3That song is hilarious. It will be great to show my girlfriend, who for whatever reason, seems to like those songs. Thanks!

4This is funny, but I don't think that it serves as objective proof that Nickleback sucks.
Here's the point: what if your girlfriend says - "sure, they sound alike, but I don't care; I still like them"? This is not akin to her saying that the Earth is flat.
There's a lot of things that surround how we perceive and enjoy music, and a lot of it has to do with how it's presented and sold to us. Nickleback are over-commercialized and their motives may have a lot more to do with making money than their passion for the music that they have made. I don't know, because I don't know much about them. But whatever the valid criticism about the stuff surrounding the music - its presentation, its aping a clear style, the lack of originality - the music itself should be judged individually by those that hear it.
Put more simply - if you don't like it, you don't like it. There's no objective good or bad to appeal to. Someone else has every right to like those songs if they do (although they'd be hard pressed to say "all Nickleback songs are a breath of true originality").
I say all of this so that you won't get dumped.

There is a fun and easy way to prove that they suck! Take said mp3, turn the "balance" control all the way to the "right", then replay. Then, turn the "balance" control all the way to the "left", and play once more. Now you'll have heard two Nickleback songs, and you'll be left with incontrovertable, unquestionable and objective proof that Nickleback sucks.
There isn't a court in the world that would disagree with that.

6Well... THAT was something that we already assumed... I'm from Vancouver and I hear the stories about them all the time. The sad fact is that I like them better than all the boy bands and Diva crap out there. Having good taste when it comes to listening (to 'music') is a rare thing in this society. And who am I to say that anyone elses opinions/tastes are wrong? That is the way the ball bounces guys/girls. I'll continue to listen to and support the stuff that I like, and ignore the Nickelbacks of the world.

Your rhetorical question assumes that music is a subjective experience.
You are Wrong, my friend!
Now you can play, too!
