Uncategorizable instrumental wonderfulness - much joy all around from both of these wonderful bands.
If you had to choose one, would you pick the over the top insanity and sheer speed virtuosity of the Bolt, or the undeniable emotional power and sheer beauty of the amazing D-Three?
(i know that LB has "vocals" as such. they are still an instrumental band in my mind. )
Either-Or: Dirty Three or Lightning Bolt
5I like 'em both. Not gonna' choose. pffffftttth!
ChoCko is back in town!
Either-Or: Dirty Three or Lightning Bolt
6I think that Lightning Bolt's music (especially "Ride the Skies" and "Wonderful Rainbow," and, to a lesser extent, their new album) is the most powerful being made by any rock band at the moment. Bar none.
LB, definitely.
LB, definitely.

Anyone who disagrees is wrong.
I'm not being sarcastic. I'm serious.

8Lightning Bolt are like The Who - on motorbikes! This is a good thing.
Lightning Bolt are one of the best live bands in the world. They're one of those bands that make many other bands seem stupid and pointless. Apples all the way, motherfuckers!

9The Dirty Three are the only band that has ever moved me to tears during a live performance. An instrumental performance.
They win.
They win.

10I've only heard the Dirty Three and will vote for them by default.
I also saw them live in Adelaide. Being and aussie I was lucky enough to catch them live very early in their career. I'm not sure I was moved to tears but the power of those three guys was something I've rarely witnessed since. I imagine if I'd seen them around the time of Ocean Somgs I could have easily been moved to tears. OS is one of the most beautiful melancholic records I own.
