Burn out is a romantic choice, but ultimately it's just premature, no matter how you slice it. Your years are what you make of them.

What will I make of my last years? Poo. Lots of small, hard, arrowhead-like poo.

I got my choice handed to me on a big ol' plate of Diabetes, type 1. I'm burning this one fairly hard, with eyes wide open about the consequences. No beliefs in the afterlife...better enjoy this one.

Edit: OK, that sounds asinine. I'm fighting for both, but I'm kinda limited to mostly one. I'd like to outlive my family and surviving friends, and especially my two cats, but that isn't entirely my choice to make. I'm all for rapidly burning out - as responsibly as I can.

I thought this poll would be boxers vs. briefs.
While I am into the idea of arson, a good fade to black can be nice.

I was doing ta’I chi once upon a time and intended to follow simple Taoist health practices for longevity. But my lungs have been a bit ravaged (is that a word?) by tb and smoking, lung cancer seems to be hereditary in my family and I’ve got enough filling in my teeth to give me early Alzheimer’s, so that long life isn’t looking so grand. It’d be nice to be an old travelling fella later on, but if that means dragging round a slowly decaying body that doesn’t work, I’m not sure.

“If I was good I could add years to my life;
I would rather add some life to my years.”

Burn out.

Edit: This could change at any time. Some factors that are missing from my current existence that could affect the decision are (a) an interesting life or (b) someone amazing entering it.
