Author of The Stranger.
Author of The Myth of Sisyphus.
Crap or Not Crap!?
[Author-Philosopher] Albert Camus
2My favorite writer of all time.
Thoughtful, direct, and beautiful writing with subtle nuance and mood, he makes the banal interesting with so little effort.
As a philosopher, his ideas have a lot of holes, but are very descriptive.
The Fall is my favorite book ever written.

3The closing passage of L'etranger is probably my favourite passage in any book ever.
He was a good goalkeeper too.
So ineffably far from crap.

Ditto.

5Camus v. Sartre? = Camus
Sartre was a great philosopher, but an indulgent and abjectly misanthropic one at times. Camus, on the other hand, was in love with the world and all it's failings. And L'etranger pisses on La Nausee.

It's good - not so good as some of his other writing but still good. A bit long-winded, and the "twist" at the end is so damned obvious from about twenty pages in.

9I like his short stories, especially The Guest. I think that has stuck with me more than The Outsider.
Not crap.

10I've only read The Plague.
Based on that book alone, a very solid NOT CRAP.
Which of his books should I start in on next?
