I went on the message board of German metal band Running Wild, to complain about the sound of their last few digitally recorded albums and one of the members gave me this response:

"...and sorry to tell you but AAD is gone, you don't need huge mixing boards like that anymore because of protools! it's all done with a mouse! when we purchased protools to upgrade my studio last month, we went from a giant SSL board to a small 5 foot by 3 foot desk to hold the mac, i/o's and preamps and a few other pieces of rack mount stuff. the days of the big impressive boards are gone my friend. why pay $100,000 or more for a mouse!? protools rules."

Right. AAD is gone. Maybe that's why Red Hot Chili Pepper's new album Stadium Arcadium was recorded, mixed and edited entirely on analog tape.

Citing the Red Hot Chili Peppers would do more to drive me away from a technology than attract me to it.

Well...not really. I'm not easily swayed by that kind of thing either way.

I just wanted to say something negative about the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Oh! Even worse than the music is when they actually try to talk about something with that quasi-pseudo-faux-wannabe-cosmic banter in interviews and such. Californication indeed.

Did I mention I don't like'em?

I went to see Chuck Brown, the D.C. Go-Go scene guy, and his band in the 80's. They were opening for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. That's the best thing the Chili Peppers ever did. After Mr. Brown and company were done I sat for 1/2 a song by the Chili Peppers and walked out.

I really don't like'em.

Ick.
