So, my 2 best friends and I are meeting in Chicago next Thursday night. We are serious sushi eaters and none of us live there. We are gonna want to eat some sushi!

Any reccomendations? Here's what we need:

-Something fairly central (not too hard to get to)
-Actual good shushi, but not NOBU fancy or OVERLY expensive or anything. A place we can wear our jeans and relax, but also be impressed by the quality.
-someplace that is open pretty late (serves until 11 or 12, at least)
-its gotta have beer and saki

Thanks!

This week's Reader has big article on Chicago sushi joints, with reviews of all the best places, in section 2. Check out their website, or centerstagechicgo.com for more info.

I recommend Kamehachi on Wells St. (a block or 2 south of North Ave.).

I'm a fan of Hama Matsu. Very unpretentious and anti-hip. It's all about the fish, man.

5143 N. Clark St.

Sai Café is really good. Pretty centrally located and not super super expensive. I think it's one of the best places in the city.

If hard to get to wasn't an issue then Katsu is also really good.

These are the places that people site as being some of the best in the city, but I haven't been to either. My guess is that they are pricey.

Based strictly on the fish, I dig Coast on Damen and Armitage in Bucktown.

Gotta bring your own drinks though.

Trader Joe's has a pretty good sake. I forget what it's called.

There's a restaurant called Coast, in Chicago.
