Now that Pitchfork has validated their existence in rock, what do we think of these guys? I saw them put forth a pretty solid performance covering for the Queens of Death Metal after Josh Homme hurt his hand on some dude's face, and thought they had promise.

I really like that "Mono" record. I haven't heard the new one yet.

They come across as maybe just a litte pretensious, and I feel like they just haven't "proven it" enough for me to give them a solid Not Crap vote, so I have to tack on a waffle factor of two.

they have some ok, Stooges-esque moments on 'mono', but they ruin it by putting far too much effort into being 'dangerous' and rebellious; it's forced and retarded. their new record is also far too non-stop IN YOUR FACE for my taste, like a mountain dew commercial aimed at scrawny punk/goth types.

Crap.

I'm pretty sure this was the band that ripped Stevie Ray Vaughn's gtr off the wall at a club in Austin when they were playing SXSW, and ran around with it to the horror of the bouncers, etc. I thought that was NOT CRAP when I heard about it.

Yeah, that was them. I really wish I'd seen more than some photos of that one, Aaron is a monster.

I bought "mono" cause it was recommended to me by a friend. At first I really hated it and then it grew on me an now i think it's great. I haven't really looked into it too deeply, but it's music that i enjoy so therefore it is not crap.

Impossible not to think of them in the context of that website but I have to admit to liking them when I saw them play in front of nobody for a 911 benefit at Spaceland(before I knew of the site). Moderate At the Drive In imitators with a little Drive Like Jehu thrown in. Then I saw them at this bar called the The Three of Clubs where they showed off their new derivations of Primal Scream in front of all these hawking prospective producers. Now they are self professed pussies on V2 trying to make a buck. More power to them if they can write a decent song. I guess they got tired of living at their grandparents house. Man, I wish I could live at my grandparents house and tour Europe yo.

Crap. But that has more to do with them taking advantage of some girls I know while they were drunk. They videotaped my friends against their will and then told them they were gonna post it on Buddyhead.
