Has anybody seen this? I just wasted 20 minutes asking Mr. T questions and giggling at his responses. My personal favorites were...
I said: Am I gay?
he said: HOMOSEXUALS DRESS SLICK! THAT'S NOT A STEREOTYPE. THAT'S JUST A FACT. FOOL!
I said: How do I personally rock as hard as you do?
he said: YOU SEEM MORE CONCERNED ABOUT ME THAN YOUR OWN FOOL ASS.

He said: "I like my van. It's slick. Like Mr. T!

3Me: "Does this dress make me look fat?"
T: "DON'T HURT OTHERS. VIOLENCE IS FOR FOOLS!"
Me: "Will Democrats retake Congres in November?"
T: "YOU'RE MAKIN' NO SENSE. SUCKA."
Me: "Sometimes i fear that life is just a dream state and we're all being held in stasis by omnipotent dolphin-like beings using our lymphatic systems to farm our hormones for fuel."
T: "YOU'RE JIBBER-JABBERING ON FAR TOO LONG. STICK TO THE POINT. FOOL!"
Me: "Very well. Miller, Bud, or Pabst?"
T: "HAVE YOU SEEN MY VAN? IT'S THE BEST! LIKE MR T!"

T: YOU SEEM MORE CONCERNED ABOUT ME THAN YOUR OWN FOOL ASS.

T: WHAT MAKES YOU THINK IT'S YOURS?
Me: Cause I'm the one who asked it Fool! What is up your butt, man?

6Me: What was George Peppard like to work with?
T: George's star had been in the descendant for many years and initially there was a heavy sense of bitterness that he'd been reduced to a "Trash TV" role. He felt he could still match his peak of "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and that simply was never going to happen. That could sometimes be hard for me to adapt to as someone from a non-acting background. His perceived rivalry with Dirk was at once comical and deeply tragic as Dirk was one of his greatest admirers, both personally and professionally. He would begin drinking at 11 15am every morning and by mid afternoon was argumentative, forgetful, tearful and then violent. There were rumours in the papers about hard drugs - but this was a crime he didn't commit!
I think George hoped we could forget about a second series but A Team scored some incredible ratings, and even the critics had a soft spot for us. It seemed with our family orientated story lines, unstoppable industriousness and firmly moralistic underpinnings were a hit with the politics of the time and the characters were seen as champions of an America that couldn't be crushed by luckless circumstance or evil foe. By association, the actors too assumed these values and George began to perk up when he was greeted by youngsters who would somehow find their way onto the set in the same way that Christopher Reeve or Harrisoon ford may have been treated. And it wasn't just the kids! Moms, Dads and of course the older generation showed their respect and admiration too. He was quite a hit with the girls too - he was still a "looker"! There was a directness with his audience that was never present with his movie career, even if his roles then were perhaps more rounded, realistic or challenging.
But George realised he still had that special ingredient that so many older actors never even had the opportunity to give a voice to in the Autumn of their career. It was the sheer volume of love that turned him around! By series three he wouldn't "hit the bottle" until we'd "wrapped" for the day and he'd join us for a celebratory drink in his trailer, with joyfully recounted anecdotes from his early acting career. The rivalry with Dirk was forgotten, and the woman who was in some of the shows certainly had more time for George than Dirk - much to Dirk's chagrin! I learnt so much from George about the profession I can't begin to thank him. Even at his lowest ebb he still turned out a flawless performance - I challenge anyone watching the shows to say which scenes were shot after George had been chemically coaxed out of a drink induced coma - something that happened on average twice a day.
Eventually the show was axed and I feared for George, but the spirit of love from his fans, family and friends stayed with him to the end. We would work together occasionally on TV specials and at conventions and it would always be like we had never been apart. The old magic was still there. Our families would meet up at Dirk's ranch over Christmas and it was wonderful to see the youngsters run around playing A Team, faithfully re-enacting classic entrapment scenes, busy welding sessions and consequence- free machine gun blasts!
Sadly George died in 1994 and I took the opportunity to reflect on my own life and busy career, and decided to spend more time with my family. I felt I grew to know them all over again and I have George to thank for that.
Thank you George, wherever you are now.
Me: What was Dwight Schultz like to work with?
We never really hit it off. He was soooooooo foolish!
