Things to do in Toronto

Recently visited Toronto for the first time in September.

Watch for the crazy lights system when you are driving!

You will find you have to turn on yellow, never on green, and make sure you check for all the crazy bastards running red lights all the time. I thought this was scaremongering bullshit untill I saw it with my own eyes.

Everyone says you should go up the CN tower, but I just went to the pub instead.

There's a good store on Queen Street West called Active Surplus that sells all manner of crazy / cool / odd bits of hardware, musical things, tools, electronics etc. from dump bins.

EDIT: I just found a review, which sells it pretty well:

More like a giant scrapyard for techies, artists, and DIY'ers than an actual electronic superstore, this has to be one of the more interesting clearance outlets - of any sort - in Toronto. Kinda like Honest Ed's on crack. Giant disco balls, used metal flaps (sold by the pound), various robots, spray paint for road signage, out-door all-weather speakers, (creepy) doll body parts were just some of the items available for purchase on a recent visit. The staff are....focussed.

rotate this on queen is probably the best record store you'll find.

there was a killer vegan restaurant called 'fressen' also on queen pretty close by, i'm not sure if it's still just as good as it use to be.

a lot of people still go drink at the horseshoe. drake's seems to be alright as of late.

just make your way down to queen & spadina and start looking around there. toronto has a pretty big steve's music which has a lot of stuff, but it's still kind of pricey.
