Hello there from the UK. I'm having trouble with my Farfisa VIP 202 since I moved house. I've opened it up, it all looks ok, no loose wires or anything obviously wrong with it. It powers up ok and the red light comes on, but no sounds from the Headphone or the Line Out.

Anyone got any ideas :?

Unless you're comfortable fixing things, and it sounds like you may not be, because Farfisas are pretty simple beasts, I'd just take it to a repair shop.

People who know them can get righ to the problem. Most combo organ repairs aren't expensive.

Cool organ!
Good luck

It's not that i'm scared to have a go, it's just that I have no idea what the problem is. Plus, I can't afford a repair . .

Is it an old guy?

Are you knowledgeable enough to use a volt metre and check voltages with the unit turned on? If you have no output whatsoever...no thermal noise, no motorboating, etc...you might just have a 'shagged' power supply, which could be an easy fix (a coupla' few cheap semiconductors, a dead resistor, filter caps...hopefully not a transformer). It could also shock you but good (usually won't kill you - just don't stand in a bucket of water).

There are several places you can get practical advice on checking power rails...I'm usually the guy who sticks his hands in and gets whacked first.

Wait- you said that you at least got the power indicator on. That probably means output issues. You might want to look at a schematic, if possible. Even one from a similar unit can give you some indication of where in the circuit you should be reading voltages.

Thanks for your reply, you're truly a gent. I'll look for the schematic and see if I can make some sense of it all.
