what do you all like to do when you're in wisconsin?

i like:

buying cheap fireworks at places that are a gas station, an arby's, and a fireworks store all in one.

responding to people that ask me if i get ironic humor with "um, i'm from michigan."

drinking point.

that wendy's oasis inbetween milwaukee and chicago even though i've never been there. did it close down, or are they just remodeling it?

watching the story of rikki at the cactus club.

being reassured that i'm glad i'm not from green bay.

Did someone already say Mars Cheese Castle? They have sausage in the shape of beer bottles, among other things.

In Milwaukee:

Playing well-organized party/basement shows to a ton of the most energetic, independent, sincere, and welcoming group of kids i've ever been around. The people and bands associated with that city are inspiring, to say the least...just the absolute opposite of being jaded.

You're probably thinking of Soup Bros. on Florida St., just off of 2nd Street in Walker's Point. A handful of copycat specialty soup places have emerged in the past year, but I have yet to try them all out. As much as I like soup, I still tend to opt for Real Chili.

Recycled Records & Books used to be kitty-corner and was pretty good for vinyl (has since moved to the Prospect Mall and become spottier). Or you're possibly thinking of Ear Waves on Farwell Ave., which is now Farwell Music and still real good. By the way, Milwaukee's 2nd Hand Tunes is no longer.

Saturday I went canoeing on the Pine River. Ticks were in abundance and I yanked one off my chest. It took a chunk of me with it. Ow. Several ticks seemed to drop in our canoe from the trees above. Damn disease ridden parasites!

Ticks are pretty cool looking, though.
