So I'm walking past a thrift store and there in the window is an Oram BEQ Series 8 console (24 input, 8 buss) at a time when I'm worrying about what I'm going to do for my next board. I snapped it up immediately.
Can anyone give me info/opinions about them? Strengths? Weaknesses? Typical problems?
Thanks

2A thrift store? That's crazy. What did you pay for it?
My friend has one of those boards and I've done some mixes on it. I like the EQ and overall sound alot.
They do tend to have a few issues though. My friend rebuilt his power supply because it couldn't power the board fully loaded - he always had to take four modules out. But his is a 48 channel so you might be fine.
Also the solo buttons didn't work. Never have, according to another friend, since the whole design is flawed in some way I can't explain to you. Do the solo buttons work on yours?
Have fun.

3I haven't fired it up yet so it may have issues but they told me that it works properly. I'll know in a few days.
It was bizarre... Just walking down the street towards my studio space and planned on walking in to see if I could find some cool junk gear (never happens to me) and there in the front window was this massive board... Complete with power supply, stand, and two extra modules. Completely freaked me out.
Another reason I love NYC.
