I've been meaning to restart this poll/discussion for some time here since it seems an appropriate place to do it and I am curious about it:
Do you have absolute pitch? If yes, talk about it. If no, talk about it also. I'm quite curious to hear personal accounts from people who have it and from people who know others who have it.
For the record, I have absolute pitch.

Yes. You can call it either "absolute pitch" or "perfect pitch". Consider them synonymous in this thread.

4I doubt you'll find many noise rock fans with perfect pitch...it was thought that I had it, but I could never figure out how to sing a note on a printed page. I was probably just lazy. Fuck it.

5Question, Matthew-
How did you discover that you had perfect pitch?

8I don't have absolute pitch, but from the folks I've met that have it I gather it is a total nuisance.
"Oh gee I cannot not even listen to piano music. It is so out of tune!"
Then again, maybe they were just coquetting tossers about the whole affair.

9I'm trying to teach myself atm. I've nearly got an A (440Hz) as it is the first note I can really feel in my chest when singing. I'm an ok singer so from there I have no problem getting the other 5 notes but that is based on intervals rather than actually knowing the pitch. Hopefully I may get there eventually, though I suspect it may be more to do with finding references for each tone rather than memorizing the pitch itself.

10Most musicians have relative pitch, and anybody who's played an instrument requiring regular tuning (such as guitar or violin) is likely to at least develop the ability to identify/produce the open notes of their instrument eventually through sheer exposure.
