I know a fella named Nige who does magic tricks. They completely fuck with you on loads of levels, when you're drunk and he knows it. He'll put things in there where normal tricks should be that he knows you're going to be wondering about for weeks afterwards; whether you actually just got his trick or there was something else that happened that you just imagined. It's a good talent, to be able to second and third and fourth and fifth and sixth guess someone until they actually start to think you might actually be magicking them. Especially if you're just some bloke doing some boring job and not a magician entertainer type.

Historically they're crap, but I'd like the chance to get sick of them again. Right now I'd rather see a magician (even a shitty one) moreso than 90% of the opening bands I've endured for the past 10 years.

Not crap. I used to know a magician-type guy. (I wonder what ever happened to him?)

But he, literally, had 100's of tricks up his sleeve.

He spent a lot of money on these tricks. He only let me in on a couple and I was always astounded by how easy the explanation was. When Fox did their "How do Magicians Do that" bit (or whatever it was called), he told me that--no shit--the "Magic Mafia" would break their knee caps for broadcasting it.
