anyone see this yet (El Labyrinto Del Fauno)?

caught it this weekend and thought it was pretty great. not as much fantasy as I thought there was going to be, but Easily better than the Devil's Backbone, which was also super. oddly similar films in that they parallel horror with war and war politics. lots of cringe inducing moments.

Pan and the Baby-Eater were great great great/creepy.

the people that brought their kid to the theater when we went are idiots.

good stuff.

I've seen Cronos and The Devil's Backbone and enjoyed both. Hope this one comes to my area. Still haven't seen Hellboy yet. What did you think of that one?

Haven't seen Cronos or Hellboy yet, would like to do so. Hellboy looks kinda weak, however.

I have Hellboy at home right now, but probably not the time to watch it. I'm really excited to see Pan's Labyrinth, but I'm not holding my breath for it to come to this area.

NC enough to drive an hour away to see, or wait for the video?

The sequel to Hellboy appears to be Del Toro's next film

Weird. I just got home from seeing this. I thought it was fan-fucking-tastic. I must admit, I was under the impression it was gonna be a dark kid's fairytale, so was genuinely shocked and disturbed on more than one occasion. The sound was great, the juxtaposition of fairytale and all too real drama was great and it looked superb.

Not crap. Not in the slightest.

I liked Hellboy. I had never read the comics, so maybe that is why I liked it, but Ron Perlman was really great, I thought.

Cronos was freakin' great. Go rent it. Ron Perlman is also good in this.

Pan and the Pale-Man alone are worth seeing on the big screen. Pan is towering. We were glad we didn't wait for the video, fwiw. We drove about half an hour out of the city to see it, if that helps yr. decision.

I was pleasantly surprised to find it was playing in the big auditorium at the Cantera last weekend. Seeing this on the largest screen in the western suburbs was very not crap

I just recently read that Del Toro didn't charge for his salary during the making of this movie. Instead, that money went to some final details that ended up making the film even better.

He also mentions how he refused to make the ending a happy one; something that would have allowed the film to have a more mainstream exposure.
