I'm looking for an old reel to reel tape recorder.
Can anybody make any recommendation on brand and such?

I'm looking at a unit made by CRAIG on eBay
but it says it takes a 5" tape.
Does anybody know where I can find 5" tape for this unit??

Thanks

My guess is that the five inches refers to the diameter of the reels used on it, not the width of the tape itself. Again, this is only a guess, but I'd suppose it's a 1/4" machine.

Yeah, they're just referring to the size of the reels you can put on this machine. 1/4" tape would be used on this machine.

Can't go too far wrong with a revox of some type and lots of spares about if you do. Depends on how much wedge you have though.
I've had a couple of PR99s. They're beasts and pretty cheap too.

Thanks!
It looks like 1/4" tape is still readily available.
