I was contacted by the International Academy of Late Night Acoustic Songwriters and informed that I am officially the 5 millionth male to come home from the bar and write a song about a girl. Im still unclear as to what illustrious prize I get for such an honor. In the meantime I will share the song that made it all possible with you.

I got home about 45 minutes ago and started writing this song about 40 minutes ago and it shows. I would recommend listening to it tonight because Im sure I will delete it first thing in the morning. Its just a lazy song about a girl. You can tell its lazy because:

1. Im using a pick.
2. I did not tune my guitar.
3. My voice is trashed from hours of second hand smoke and beer.
4. The lyrics are pretty straightforward.
5. Quite possibly the worst guitar solo ever.

"Some Girl"

I could use a little help
With your puzzle pieces
The pretty ones are upside down
The others fit easy

I dont know what to say
To make myself seem interested
My mind drifts away
And then you lose your patience

This is not the girl I know
Tightlipped, cold and distant
Ive lost track of what Ive done
Not that I would change it

I didnt "throw you away"
Last I heard we both agreed
On what I had to say
Along the lines of what we need

This is now your second song
And youll never hear it
Youre not a fan of being wrong
Where everyone can see it

But I love you just the same
Even when you stomp your feet
And pout and walk away
You do it so adorably....

Don't write songs with your heart on your sleeve and post them when you're drunk. Sing them to her. Do not record this tripe, it will haunt you forever. I'm speaking from experience, here.

I'm sure that you thought that it was the pinnacle of your songwriting career, but you will feel differently in a few hours.

Actually, quite the opposite. You must not be familiar with my reputation for posting trite and meaningless songs on the board.

This song is dumb. This song is boring. I understood this not only while I was writing it but at this very moment.

This is just what I do when Im bored.

Thanks for listening.

Duke, this is gross. People are probably going to ream you. You probably don't deserve it in real life, but posting songs you wrote about a girl on an internet forum = deserving to get reamed.

Im sick in the fact that I enjoy the reamings much more than the compliments.

Ream me.

Ahh, I wasn't listening, just offering some friendly advice. You have since clarified your position, rendering any advice I could give null and void. And I didn't indicate that anything was dumb or boring. I will not ream you. Sorry!

you only say so cause you're not much of a drinker.
otherwise we would have heard bulk of the new shellac record already.

editt: saying that music only changes your world when your lame or some shit, this is what really justifies beating the living shit out of a person.

and what is the point of this phrase? "living shit?" what?

ok, i'm drunk too.

and this song is not bad at all.

I just wanted to say that i laughed out loud at this. Bravo.

Back on topic...i like this Some Girl song. Not normally what i would find myself listening too, but I don't find it boring at all. Nice melody over some interesting chords. There's even a nice little solo in the middle. I don't know, maybe i'm getting old. I'm not going to ream you though. Sorry. I genuinely enjoyed it.
