Book by Moses Avalon (Josh Melville I found after a bit of research)
This bit caught my attention while i was flicking through it in the library:

EDITED TO REMOVE CONTENT AT THE REQUEST OF COPYRIGHT HOLDER WITH SAND IN HIS VAGINA

The thing is he tries to make the case of independent artists through what i've read so far, and warns against the dodgier buggers. So how bad are the real bad guys.

(i find the "EDITED TO REMOVE CONTENT AT THE REQUEST OF COPYRIGHT HOLDER WITH SAND IN HIS VAGINA" funny. He genuinely thinks this is a reasonable thing.

I need to go away and read the book to find out of this guy is as bit a prat as i think he is.

Does anyone have any experience dealing with him?
By the way, here's his credits from Allmusic (he claims to be a big daddy producer).

Don't know him or his work, but those are the words and actions of a complete tool.

Though his book has some amusing passages - I picked it off the rack once and read quite a bit of it, I don't think "Moses Avalon" says should be taken seriously at all. He writes under an assumed name and doesn't have the balls to name any names at all in his book.

A complete coward. Don't buy the book and enrich his spinelessness.

Mixerman is better, and more amusing.

EDITED TO REMOVE CONTENT AT THE REQUEST OF COPYRIGHT HOLDER WITH SAND IN HIS VAGINA

So, in order to determine if it was good he... ran it past his lawyer? Really?

Moses has done a bunch of seminars about navigating the world of major labels, and has been pretty frank about how their contracts are designed to take advantage of musicians, and how to rework them so they're at least moderately better. Good for him. But he doesn't seem to understand the obvious benefits of a world outside of that one. And, from just that little quote, it seems like he's as invested in it as everyone else.

Can you imagine anyone you respected asking for a contract like that?

I always like to run my music by my lawyer before I start shopping it around. He gives good aesthetic advice.

Am I missing something? Did this jag actually shop somebody's songs around without their knowledge? Or do we assume the guy was asked to by the band?
