"This Love" is hands down my favorite pop single of the year. I think that it is great. I am always very happy to hear this song.
Is it art? Absolutely not. Part of the lyric is actually quite awful. I'm also not a fan of the recording. However, "This Love" has an excellent Stevie Wonder-ish quality to it, and a boatload of simple appeal. I am totally charmed by this song. It also sounds out of place given the current state of commercial radio, which is a cool thing to me. It's just a straightahead 1970's-esque pop song. I could imagine the Jackson 5 performing "This Love", and that's pretty much the highest praise that I can issue to any song.
I am particularly amazed at how much I like this song since Maroon 5's first single ("Harder To Breathe") was an unqualified horror. Even more shocking to me is that this little slice of bouncy faux-Motown bubblegum soul is performed by a bunch of record contract chasing boys from L.A. who look like they'd be most at home in a Gap ad. And they're called Maroon 5, for Christ's sake.
Lightning struck, I guess.
"This Love" is absolutely Not Crap. Call me in ten years and I'll say the same thing.

Love this song as well & feel the same. GREAT pop song.
Along the lines of …once again Avril or Dashboard Confessional… yada yada…
Not exactly bands we'll hear new songs from again - after a year or so… but fun to listen to before a jog or when cleaning right.
Sorry for making those nauseous. Understand if I have.

I work at a place that plays horrible top 40 all day and it is one of the better songs they play. It falls into the same category as Heya by the Outcast. I don't think its all that good, but compared to the J.Lo,Jodeci, etc. gutter music they play the other 39 songs, its a godsend.

That you're such a hard ass. Yeah, says plenty.
I'd think you'd be more hardcore if you'd just fess up to loving No Doubt and Avril like you really do.
Everyone already knows Pantera's "This Love" is great tough guy. It’s like your sayin’ "Whatever… LedZep is WAY muther fuckin cooler." Brain surgery I tell ya....

i don't think that song is very good at all. oh well.
the cover of that record is really funny though (guy getting punched in the face in what could only be described as a
vulgar display of power)
