I own an original Altec 436C Compressor. Its in great shape, but I find it to be rather useless on many sources. I know that EMI engineers had to heavely mod this compresssor in the 60s to make it work the way they needed it to. I was wondering if there was anyone out there who would perform this mode for me, and how much it would cost.

John Hinson at Revolution Recording is probably one of only a few people in the world who actually know what the mods done were. I believe he owns some of EMI's original schematics. He builds and sells (www.RevolutionRecording.com) an exact duplicate of the Altec as modified by EMI. However, I know of no one who performs the (authentic) modifications.
