Underground Restaurants have popped up in various cities in the last few years, including here in Portland (maybe it started here, or I'm guessing the SF Bay Area or NYC, I really don't know). I was wondering if anyone's ever been to one of these places and what the experience was like.

I saw the Bourdain show about one of the Portland ones (Gypsy, I think it was called) and it looked like fun.
There's a few groups of people here in NYC that do it, but the one organized by people I know meets on nights I work, so I haven't been yet. The night they do haggis - REAL haggis - I am so there.

Ooooo! I saw that Bourdain spot too and was intrigued. I'd get WAY into this.

I like haggis.
I dislike that I have to behave like a criminal to get the real kind.
I dislike that I have to go to Kearny to get the correct sheep parts to make it.

Oh no. This will become a new "indie" thing.
"Dude, I've been eating at this restaurant for like 5 years. I like their early stuff better, they're starting to suck now that they've broken through to the mainstream; and they OBVIOUSLY have broken through if YOU'RE eating here."
But at the same time..I love food. I especially love good food. I just hate snobs.
