Not crap.

All rap music is fucking stupid, all rappers and rap musicians are talentless nothings.
There are maybe 10 rap or hip hop records that are a honest to goodness decent listen from start to finish, out of the millions and millions ever made that's it. A handful. The rest are either carbon copies of one of those 10 records or complete horseshit.
This includes Tupac and Wu Tang and whoever else you think is a genius for whatever reason.
Rap beats are retardedly easy to put together, it takes literally 2 minutes to throw a rap song together.
I can make you an entire CD of rap beats that sound exactly like the beats that RZA is so admired for. I can do it in 10 minutes. It's just trip hop drum beats with old soul samples and squiggly keyboards thrown on top, that's it. Nothing special. Easy as pie.
As far as the lyrics go, the 'poetry' of rap music?
I have heard a million rap songs rapped at me and have very very rarely ever heard one that sounded like anything other than a bunch of gibberish and nonsense.

You plebeians just don't get it. You've obviously never heard of (underground rapper), so it's safe to say you've never heard real poetry in your life. Yeah, I went there. You may, in your musically ignorant stupor, say to yourself "GE GORSH WHAT IS WITHG ALL DEM RAPPERZ AND DER HOES!?" Ha. Ha. Yeah, because all rap is a string of expletives about murdering, raping, maiming, getting rich through crime, drugs, and attending extravagant parties with bling - because every rapper has to rap about being money and "bling" . The only musical innovations in the past 15 years have come from the lyrical stylist (underground rapper #2), who was more Shakespearian than Shakespeare. Why don't you go listen to your safe, boring music, and leave all of those big, scary black people to the musically diverse, you closet racists.

Look, TuPac sucked and was a pussy. Many better rappers out there, living and dead. That said, this thread has become a fishing line. Marsupialized, baiting the hip-hoppers, eh? Marsupialized, you thought you were throwing down a gauntlet but you just dropped a lacey little glove. Look some people like rap and some don't, but your generalisations are meaningless because you have no qualifiers. You probably listened to some bullshit on your television and tarred the rest of the hip-hop world with the same brush. Rap / hip hop is a million things, good and bad, just like any type of music and just like life.

Making "beats" etc is no different than composing a score, but some are talented and others not. You wouldn't have even thought of putting together that lo-fi sound until you heard RZA do it first. He's no musical genius but at least his shit sounded raw (for a while) to the bone.

Anyway, the question was not "is rap crap" but "does TuPac smoke the cock." I think he does. Poo poo.

And I think the "if you don't like rap you are racist" comment was a joke. You didn't get it. You can't dance. You like Barry Manilow and make your own sweaters. You talk to your cats. Your mother's got gold nipples. Wash your butt.

I like plenty of rap music, but I find Tupac Shakur very unappealing. There is a quality to his voice that is so self-consacious, so hyper-aware of the pose he is striking, that it's totally unconvincing, the polar opposite of "keepin' it real." In this sense, he is the Jewel of hip hop.
