i figured this thread might go along nicely with the guitar thread.
currently i'm using the "bob weston."
ts-50b into a power amp into an old sunn 2x15.
soon though that setup is being retired for a tube amp and a sunn 4x12.
i haven't decided on the tube amp yet. but i have a couple ideas.
ampeg v4.
traynor yba200
traynor yba-3
simms-watts something or other.
pignose something or other. a copy of the v4 i've heard.
i'd like an svt or sunn model t but i'm not gonna pay that much.

Alembic F1-X tube preamp with built-in crossover. Lows go straight into one channel of the Carvin DCM-2000 watt power amp, out to Avatar 1000-watt 2x12. Mids/highs go through secret early 90's guitar preamp w/footswitchable distortion, then to other channel of DCM 2000, out to Avatar 2000-watt 4x10. Fundamentals stay clean, dirty gets tuned in on the higher freqs.
All speakers Eminence Kappa-LFs. Head mounted in SKB shallow Roto-X-Racks. Planet Waves 20-ft instrument cable, Dunlop braided cables in head. Neutrik Speakon speaker cables from Carvin. Anal retentiveness courtesy of inspirations like Tim Green of Louder Records/The Fucking Champs, and whomever put together the Electrical Audio equipment list.

That Kerbling is attached to a two-year-old thread. Is there a statute of limitations or something?

I'm rockin the Geddy Jazz through an Acoustic 470 into what I believe is an early 80's Sunn 2X15 cab. When that head distorts ... she's beautiful.

Oh yeah Fly, if you want a tube amp, go for a V4-b (it's cheap too) . The V4 is a guitar head. Unless deep low end isn't your thing ?

This thread makes me realize I know precisely dick about my rig.
I have a Marshall JCM900 50w Head and the Crate Excalibur Series 4x12 Slanted Cab.
I don't really like my cabinet, in fact I'm bordering on hating it. Someday I'll get the Marshall Cab with the Celestion 30 speakers in them. Anyone have any suggestions?

Keep the cabinet, trash the speakers. Try loading the cabinet with some other speakers. Unless your hardware buzzes, or they used crappy/thin wood, you can save some bucks and get a good sound.
