This story would totally make sense, if only Iran actually had ICBM's and nukes to put on them. Good thing we are allowed to punish the weak for their thought crimes, or we'd have a hard time spending a trillion dollars a year on our defense and Israel's.

Jerusalem ----- February 28, 2007 .... An Israel security official told the Israel News Agency that the recent launch of a missile from Iran into space illustrated a direct threat to both Europe's and US national security.
On February 25, Iran launched a missile reaching space. "Iran has successfully launched its first space missile made by Iranian scientists," the head of Iran's aerospace research center, Mohsen Bahrami, was quoted as saying. On Saturday, Iran Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said Iran was planning to build a satellite and launcher.
"Iran has no plans to land a man on the moon," Col. Adam an Israeli security source told the INA. "The same technology is used to build intercontinental ballistic missiles. This Iran space launch is not a threat to Israel. The Iranians need not reach a space orbit to attack Israel, but such a high orbit would be needed to deliver a nuclear payload into Europe or the US."
And the INA is blaming Iran for the attack on Cheney, too.

Oh, Israel does!
And who else?
Oh, the US does!
And which two countries have been behaving the most aggressively in the Middle East in recent years?
Ummm....why, those two countries would have to be the US and Israel!
Really, I can't imagine that Iran might want to defend itself, or deter invasion to make it unnecessary to defend itself. Why would they do that?

For real, nobody seems to think much of the fact that we condemn one country for trying to do what we have done (develop a nuclear arms program). To be VERY clear, I am of course AGAINST any nuclear program. But, the arguement that they should be policed and punished for doing so, while we sit on the largest stockpile of that shit, is massive hypocrisy. Criticise Iran for it's crazy-ass religious and political leaders, sure. They're as fucked up as ours are.

Israel uses nuclear weapons in the same way the US does...as part of a mutually-assured-destruction deterrence system. Such a system depends on the assumption that no player is willing to commit suicide.
The Iranian government, on the other hand, is in the active business of providing weaponry to those who make a virtue of suicide attacks. They can't be trusted with nuclear weapons because of their current and recent past actions and statements.
There is nothing racist about this assessment Mr. I-blame-it-all-on-zionists-AND-JEWS. If you're looking for racists, start with the mirror.

Allow me to point out that the US has supported terrorist organisations who also use suicidal tactics. In fact they helped set up a couple.
I imagine they do this because they wish to use such organisations for political advantage.
Does this mean the rulers of the US of A shouldn't be trusted with nukes either cause they are bound to behave in a suicidal manner?
Or are you only looking through one side of the looking glass again Mr Galanter?
