Could anybody tell me what are the best bass distortion pedals on the market?

ive had good luck with the original rat pedal, and the green russian re issue big muff, the ratt will lose low end in your tone and the big muff is ultra bassy and over blown
id say just try some stuff out at the local shop or vintage music shop in your town.

Also on the subject, does anybody know how some of the bass sounds on Big Blacks "Atomizer" record were created? I was wondering mainly about the sounds on (hate to say it) Kerosene...

I thought it was just an Ampeg amp being overdriven with a Peavey bass.

I use a simple DS-1 when I want distorted bass, but I also like it real trebly so the level is always up to about 8-9.

I've seen a dude use a Big Muff to fantastic effect.
