what do your parents think of your music?

I stopped by my parents today to drop off some plane tickets for them and my father asked how the music was going, I played him a couple songs on our myspace page. He was pleased and said 'it kinda sounds like the red hot chili peppers'
Now this is the most insane thing I have ever heard for a million reasons but I know he meant it as a compliment like, 'oh it sounds really professional like a real band' kinda thing
What kind of reaction have some of your parents given you when let them in on what you doing with music, or any kind of art for that matter.
Like those artists who paint pictures of jesus with dog shit, I always wonder 'do their parents show up to the opening? What do they say?'

i think that they would have preferred that i stuck with classical piano, but they do sort of get what i do - they don't really understand sampling or recording, but they try to get it. and they genuinely enjoyed my album (except for the swearing).
it helps that they're both parrotheads & my dad's a merch guy for a
blues guitarist - they respect the hard work and the musicianship even if they can't get a handle on the genre.
and hell, they drove six hours to see my old band (rather, the band for which i worked as an independent contractor) open up for front 242 and "really got a kick out of it" - they're goodhearted, wonderful, weird people.

My parents couldn't be bothered. On the rare occasion that they could, they wanted to know why I was yelling.

My parents have always been very supportive of my music, although they fucking hate it. They always try to come to my shows and stuff, and they give songs a listen or two.
My Dad's real cool with everything, like the yelling and the anger. My Mom kind of looks at me funny thinking, "where did I go wrong?"

My parents being into rock, metal music etc, have always been rather for the music my band plays. They have been supportive and enjoyed it, but they do sometimes complain when shit gets a bit noisy with feedback and other crazy stuff like.

We own a pub/venue in Bristol. That's why I was asking. Have been to TJ's on many many occasions, but thats about it for my over the bridge venue going experiences. I do love that area though.

My folks have a similar reaction when they might actually decide to care except they wonder why were not yelling...or singing at all...I mean who wants to listen to instrumental music????

They are both into music and are supportive, but they haven't really heard any of my music. Which I guess explains the first part.
