Hi all. I recently scored a Tascam 48B in superb condition for $60. AUS.

1/4" 2 track, 7.5/15 IPS, thats about all I know about it!

Hadnt planned on getting into analog, but now that it is here I am thinking of experimenting with mixing down to this deck from digital land and see what results. I am waiting for a manual to arrive before I do anything regarding calibration and the like.

So, in the meantime, I was wondering if any of you good folk have any experience or opinions regarding this machine and how useful it might be. There seems to be precious little info around on the net re. the 48B...so hit me with everything ya got!! :0) Thank you.

My opinion is that you've either got an eight track for peanuts (Tascam's product naming policy is pretty straight forward: e.g. if it's an 80-8, 38, 48, 58 or TSR8, etc, then it's an eight track ), or that you just bought a Tascam 42B for a very good price.

ha! Fair enough Mark, no its a 2 track. Though a 8 track would be very nice! :0)
