Hi Everyone,
I am currently working on a book, written for engineers and archivists, on analog audio preservation. As tape specs can only provide so much information, I'd like to use this forum as an opportunity to gather additional, first-hand experiences with different magnetic tape formulations from my fellow engineers.
Especially helpful would be the experiences of "old timers" who have seen the changes in tape formulations over extended periods of time.
Any information on formulas, longevity, re-usability in the long term, recording characteristics, and sound quality after an extended period in storage would be greatly appreciated. Still, any interesting tidbits about a particular formulation would be equally welcomed.
Thanks everyone...
