How does everyone feel about moderation/banning on internet forums?

I've noticed that this is one of the most liberal forums in this respect - is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Should there be more/less/the same moderation on EA forums?

it´s okay this way.
the level of moderation on a forum depends of the madurity of the population of it. i remember visiting for some months a bass forum populated with billy sheehan and victor wooten teenagers.. there was even some topics that were banned (for example, you can´t mention mark hoppus - blink182 bassist, or pick vs fingers topics) . it was ridiculous.

There's really no reason to ban anyone on a forum. Some forums, the administrators are real fascists, but we're lucky to be left to our discussions here.

I love this place...

I admit that I think there are about four people on this forum who should be banned but I also appreciate why this isn't going to happen.

On other forums, Moderators can be absolute asshats. It's kind of annoying when they are working against the flow for the sake of their own petty ego. I moderate on two other forums and I try to be as clinical as possible because when it breaks down, the drama is unbearable.

Fortunately, the Moderators here just so happen to be literally my favourite people in the world so there's no such problem. Steve, Bradley, Faiz, Greg, Russ (retired) and Sowley (don't know him yet but he seems good natured) are the reason I keep coming back here because they are hilarious and informative at once.

I didn't even know anyone had ever been banned.

I've seen some very intelligent conversations on here and some really DUMB conversations on here. I'm just glad I could be here to lower the intellectual bar.
