I've been meaning to start this thread for awhile.
Are there any bands you can think of that released an absolutely atrocious, piece of shit garbage of an album, only to recover with a brilliant record?
I have no examples, but I'm wondering about this. Kerble if you want.

2Oh God, Discharge.

3Dylan has done this quite a few times...probably more than anyone else.
What that says about him I don't really know.

4Dylan likes to experiment, and at the same time, destroy his fan base. Bobby's got balls.

6The Beta Band.
After attracting attention with their 3 Ep's, they proceeded to put out a terrible first album. A few years later they came back with "Hot Shots 2." Start to finish, a damn good album.

8Goo was beyond atrocious, but Dirty and Experimental Jet Set, Trash & No Star were good. Washing Machine was better than them both.eephour wrote:sonic youth

Aw man, but you have to admit, Broken Up A Ding Dong is a great song. Worth owning the record for that.
The Fall has put out some poop, only to redeem.
The Church had a long rough period. No pieces of shit produced, per se, but less than stellar. They are making good mucic again.
I'm not much of a Wilco fan, but Being There was a piece of doo doo. YHF, and A Ghost Is Born, while overhyped, were good records.
Mercury Rev's records got unlistenable soon after they started, then they found space rock and got damn good.
