What do you think is a good rock band logo? Or do you think band logos are unnecessary and if so, why?

In my band, we don't have a logo, so much as we have our name in a specific font. We feel the clean lines in some way reflect the concepts behind our music.

I always liked the stuff like Ramones or Television or the Stooges. Just a simple, all caps really big has a classic look. I'm not in to overly designed band logos, especially metal ones where you can't decipher the intricate design from the letters themselves.

They're not effective, but i love love love the death metal band logos where the actual name of the band is completely unintelligible. Back in the day in Appleton, WI in the early-90s, just about every flyer for a death metal show would feature the band's logo accompanied below it by the band's name is a basic arial font so you knew who the fuck it was. That's gold right there.

hah, those classic rock logos are all so cheesy (ac/dc is ok)..

i just like a clean, capitalized font myself, like DESCENDENTS or fIREHOSE.
